I’m Gennan
It’s pronounced with a soft ‘G’ like George. I often tell people that my name is basically Jenna+Shannon, because no one ever knows how to pronounce it when they see it written. It’s derived from the same root word as “genesis’ or “generation”. ;-)
I grew up mostly in California, living in Sonoma, San Francisco, Santa Cruz and Los Angeles counties. Coastal California is my home and heart! I am inspired by the varied landscapes and many moods of California. We lived in New Jersey for a few years when I was a teen. Close enough to New York City that I developed a love and obsession with museums and the arts.
I moved from L.A. to San Luis Obispo County in 2022 with my husband and daughter, putting yet another coastal CA county on the list of places I’ve called home. My husband grew up in Paso Robles and has always wanted our daughter to grow up on the Central Coast. We finally made this dream happen and now live in Templeton with our two Queensland Heelers, one cat and too many chickens!
✨I first picked up a camera in high school and was instantly obsessed with the process and possibilities of capturing images. I went on to study at The San Francisco Art Institute and transferred to The Art Center, College of Design in Pasadena, earning a BFA in Photography.
✨I began my career as a photographer in a Los Angeles product photo studio. While working there, I found I had a talent for photo retouching. I worked as a professional retoucher for many years and know what many celebrities really look like hah! I made my way back to freelance photography after having my daughter in 2013.
✨When I’m not working on photographs, I like to spend time exploring nature or museums with my daughter, going to festivals and concerts, hiking, thrifting, checking out local shops and farmers markets or with my nose in a good book with a cup of tea.
TIDBITS:
⭐I’m a fantasy nerd- if it has dragons, I’m in!
⭐Butter is life! As far as I’m concerned, bread is just a butter delivery system.
⭐I’ve been to Burning man 4 times. The first time I was 7 months pregnant with my daughter!
⭐I love to dress up in costumes! (see fantasy nerd above)
⭐Coffee or tea? Both! Coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon. As a busy mom, I need ALL the caffeine.
⭐I’m a morning person, usually up before dawn.
⭐I love hosting tea parties! Every year my best friends and I throw a Halloween witches tea party.
⭐I love going to concerts by myself.
⭐I am an avid reader. I adore a good book store.
⭐My company name “All My Stars” comes from an e.e. Cummings poem that I have always found heart-achingly beautiful- did I mention that I’m a hopeless romantic?
