I’m Gennan
It’s pronounced with a soft ‘G’ like George. I often tell people that my name is basically Jenna+Shannon, because no one ever knows how to pronounce it when they see it written. It’s derived from the same root word as “genesis’ or “generation”. ;-)
I’m a passionate photographer with a deep love for storytelling through images, inspired by the ever-changing landscapes and moods of California. I grew up mostly in the Golden State, living in Sonoma, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, and Los Angeles counties—Coastal California is my home and heart!
As a teen, I spent a few years in New Jersey, close enough to New York City to develop a lifelong obsession with museums and the arts. Beyond photography, I’m an avid reader and love getting lost in a great book. Hiking is another passion of mine—I find so much joy exploring trails, whether along the rugged coastline or through rolling oak-studded hills.
In 2022, I moved from L.A. to San Luis Obispo County, adding yet another coastal California county to my list of places I’ve called home. Now, I live in Templeton with my daughter, one fluffy cat, and a hilarious French bulldog, soaking in the beauty of the Central Coast every day.
✨I discovered my passion for photography in high school, instantly captivated by the art of capturing moments. This passion led me to study at the San Francisco Art Institute before transferring to the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, where I earned a BFA in Photography.
✨I began my photography career in a Los Angeles product photo studio, where I discovered a natural talent for retouching. I spent several years as a professional retoucher—getting an inside look at what celebrities really look like (hah!). After having my daughter in 2013, I returned to my true passion: freelance photography.
✨When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me exploring nature or museums with my daughter, enjoying festivals and concerts, hiking scenic trails, hunting for treasures while thrifting, browsing local shops and farmers markets, or curled up with a good book and a cup of tea.
TIDBITS:
⭐I’m a fantasy nerd- if it has dragons, I’m in!
⭐Butter is life! As far as I’m concerned, bread is just a butter delivery system.
⭐I’ve been to Burning man 4 times. The first time I was 7 months pregnant with my daughter!
⭐I love to dress up in costumes! (see fantasy nerd above)
⭐Coffee or tea? Both! Coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon. As a busy mom, I need ALL the caffeine.
⭐I’m a morning person, usually up before dawn.
⭐I love hosting tea parties! Every year my best friends and I throw a Halloween witches tea party.
⭐I love going to concerts by myself.
⭐I am an avid reader. I adore a good book store.
⭐My company name “All My Stars” comes from an e.e. Cummings poem that I have always found heart-achingly beautiful- did I mention that I’m a hopeless romantic?
